Blue Flag certification is a globally recognized eco-label accorded based on 33 stringent criteria in four major heads which are environmental education and information, bathing water quality, environmental management, and conservation and safety and services in the beaches.

The Government of India has constituted a 12-member National Steering Committee, under the chairmanship of K Kasturirangan, for formulating guidelines for changes in the CBSE / NCERT curriculum. The Committee has a term of three years. The document, called the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), was last prepared in 2005.
Kasturirangan is the former Chief of ISRO and has also headed the committee that drafted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The Foundation for Environment Education, Denmark, which provides Blue Flag certification, has re-designated eight designated beaches – Shivrajpur-Gujarat, Ghoghla-Diu, Kasarkod, and Padubidri -Karnataka, Kappad-Kerala, Rushikonda-Andhra Pradesh, Golden-Odisha. : Certification and Radhanagar- Andaman and Nicobar, which was awarded the Blue Flag Certificate last year. These eight beaches have received the Blue Flag certification on October 6, 2020.
