Central government has announced that Bengaluru will host the five-day Aero India show that will be held in February 20-24, 2019. The show is considered to the largest aerospace exhibition in Asia.

India and France have signed an implementation agreement on “MOBILISE YOUR CITY” (MYC) on September 7,2018 in New Delhi. MYC is part of an international initiative which is supported by the French and the German Governments. MYC was launched at 21st Conference of Parties (COP21) meeting in December, 2015. The MYC aims at supporting three pilot cities viz. Nagpur, Kochi and Ahmedabad in their efforts to reduce their Green House Gas (GHG) emissions related to urban transport.

World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD), on 10 September, is organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). WHO has been co-sponsor of the day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented. According to WHO’s first report on suicide prevention, more than 800,000 people die by suicide every year – around one person every 40 seconds.

On 6th September 2018, Google launched “Dataset Search”, a new search engine for the scientific community to help them find the data required for their work. Dataset Search will work like Google Scholar, which is Google’s search engine for academic studies and reports. Dataset Search will help find datasets wherever they’re hosted, from a publisher’s site, a digital library, or an author’s personal web page.

The Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar on September 11, 2018 flagged off the first bus service between Bihar and Nepal. The service will link Bodh Gaya and Patna in Bihar to Kathmandu and Janakpur in Nepal strengthening the relations between India and Nepal. Under the India-Nepal Agreement eight bus routes have been identified including Patna-Janakpur, Kathmandu-Varanasi, Bodh Gaya-Kathmandu, Nepalganj-Delhi, Janakpur-Ayodhya, Delhi – Pokhra, Delhi – Mahendranagar and Siliguri – Kathmandu.

Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has found gas deposits in a block in Vindhyan basin in Madhya Pradesh. It is now being tested. The find is at 3,000-plus meters. Also, an oil and gas discovery has been made in a well in Ashok Nagar of 24 Parganas district in West Bengal.

The Tamil Nadu government passed an order banning the sale of e-cigarettes (electronic nicotine delivery system or ENDS) with immediate effect. The health and family welfare department passed a government order (GO), dated September 3, banning e-cigarettes with immediate effect.

The Government of India (GoI) will observe September as National Nutrition Month (NNM) across the country to mark the fight against malnutrition. During this month, various programmes have been organized by the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry to spread broad awareness on the issues related to malnutrition like stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight in children. The Nutrition Month will also focus on adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers to eliminate the deficiencies prevailing in the Health sector. The NNM will be celebrated every year with the aim to bring down stunting of children in the age group of 0-6 years from 38% to 25% by 2022. The POSHAN Abhiyaan – the National Nutrition Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan on 2018 International Women’s Day (IWD).

On 4th September 2018, Paytm Money Ltd has launched its app for mutual fund investments. It has partnered with 25 asset management companies including all large fund houses, that cover around 90% of the industry’s ₹ 22 trillion worth of assets under management. Paytm Money Ltd, the wholly-owned subsidiary of One97 Communications Ltd targets to sell a mutual fund to around 25 million people in the next three to five years. Paytm Money will sell only direct plans of all mutual fund schemes. Direct plans come with a lower expense ratio as they do not have distributor commissions embedded in them. The company is providing systematic investment plans (SIPs) for as low as Rs 100 in some of the schemes.

The Supreme Court on Aug 31 banned construction activities in three states after the respective governments failed to frame a policy on solid waste management, despite court directions. The three states are Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, and Chandigarh.

The Union Home Ministry announced that the Census 2021 will for the first time collect data on Other Backwards Castes (OBC). The exercise will involve 25 lakh trained enumerators. The 2011 Census collected information in 29 categories that included a separate column for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes.
