Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), India & primary border patrol organization, under the Ministry of Home Affairs, observes its 61st Raising Day on 24th October 2022. It is one of the seven Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) of India. ITBP was established on 24th October 1962 for reorganizing the frontier intelligence and security set-up along the Indo-Tibetan border. ITBP was initially raised under the Central Reserve Police Force Act 1949. However, in 1992, parliament enacted the ITBP Force Act and the rules were framed in 1994. Presently, ITBP has 56 service Battalions, 4 Specialist Battalions, 17 Training Centres and 7 logistics establishments with a total strength of approximately 88,500 personnel.

India test-fired indigenously developed new generation medium-range ballistic missile ‘Agni Prime’ (Agni-P) from the Odisha coast. As per the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Agni Prime is a new generation advanced variant of the Agni class of missiles with a range capability between 1,000 and 2,000km.

India’s first ‘Migration Monitoring System’ has been inaugurated in Mumbai. The system has been developed by the Department of Women and Child Development. It is aimed at providing updated information on migrant pregnant women, lactating mothers and children instantly on a single system. The website-based Migration Tracking System (MTS) will track the movements of vulnerable seasonal migrant beneficiaries through unique identification numbers.

On 20th October 2022, the Government of India approved the construction of a cable-cum-suspension bridge under the Bharatmala Pariyojana project across the Krishna river, that connects Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, passing through the Nallamala forest range. The bridge across the Krishna river will be the first of its kind in India and the 2nd in the world.

The ‘Climate Transparency Report 2022’ was released by a partnership of climate analysis organisations in G20 countries. As per the report, the countries most affected by income losses in these sectors were India (5.4% of GDP), Indonesia (1.6% of GDP), and Saudi Arabia (1% of GDP). Losses to earnings from heat-related labour capacity reduction were the highest in services, manufacturing, agriculture, and construction.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled HTT-40, an indigenous trainer aircraft designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Madhya Pradesh Wildlife Board approved a new reserve for tigers of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), which is to be called Durgavati Tiger Reserve. One-fourth of the 2,339 square kilometres new tiger reserve will get submerged due to the linking of the Ken-Betwa Rivers. A green corridor linking PTR with Durgavati will be developed for the natural movement of the tiger to the new reserve.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Indian Urban Housing Conclave-2022’ a three-day event being organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at Rajkot, Gujarat.
