The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), approved to increase the Minimum Support Price(MSP) for all Rabi crops (agricultural crops that are sown in winter and harvested in the spring in India) of 2019-20 that are to be marketed in the Rabi season of 2020-21.For the Rabi crops of RMS 2020-21, the highest increase in MSP was recommended for lentil which would be Rs. 325/quintal. The procurement of the rabi crops will be done by the state govt. under the National Food Security Act(NFSA). The losses incurred will be fully undertaken by the govt, as per the guidelines.

The Centre plans to make Ladakh the first Union Territory (UT) to be operated entirely on renewable energy. The latest UT has around 30 MW of small hydro projects alongside which the government is planning to install solar power generation units. Due to the irradiance factor in Ladakh, the solar power generation range is comparatively higher (6-8 units per square meter) as compared to the other areas of the country.

Deepak won a silver medal while tennis player N Sriram Balaji claimed a bronze medal in their respective events at the ongoing seventh Military World Games in Wuhan, China. Deepak settled for the silver in the men’s light flyweight (46-49kg) category after losing to Zhussupov Temirtas of Kazakhstan. Balaji defeated Uzbekistan’s Fomin Sergey 6-2 6-3 in the men’s singles bronze medal contest.

The Odisha government has inked a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund) to provide safe drinking water to all the households in the state by March 2020. LoU will be initiated on a pilot basis for around 1.2 lamb people in pockets of Puri and Khurda district.

The much-talked-about ‘Deepotsav’, the annual Diwali festival in Ayodhya, entered the Guinness Book of Record with the illumination of 5.51 lakh earthen lamps on the occasion. The event made it to the Guinness World Records for ‘the largest display of oil lamps’. It has been achieved by the Department of Tourism, Government of Uttar Pradesh and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya Awadh University.
