The ‘India TB Report 2022’ was recently released by the Union Health Minister. As per the report, India reported a sharp 19 percent rise in tuberculosis cases in 2021 over the previous year.
The total number of incident TB patients notified during 2021 was around 19 lakhs as opposed to that of 16 lakhs in 2020. There has been an increase in the mortality rate due to TB between 2019 and 2020 by 11 percent in India.

North Korea has confirmed that it has test-fired its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) since 2017 named ‘Hwasong-17’.
Hwasong-17 flew 1,090 km at a maximum altitude of 6,248.5 km and hit a target. Hwasong-17 is claimed to be the largest road-mobile, liquid-fuelled ICBM in the world. Hwasong-15, which was tested in November 2017 reached an altitude of about 4,475 km and covered 950 km.

India on March 23 successfully test-fired the extended-range version of a surface-to-surface BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a launchpad in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Officials connected with the launch said the “extended range BrahMos missile hit its target with pinpoint accuracy”.
