The Government has appointed Madhabi Puri Buch as the new chairperson of the market regulator -Securities and Exchange Board of India.
She is the first woman chairperson of SEBI. Ms. Madhabi Puri Buch, the former head of ICICI Securities, replaces Ajay Tyagi. Mr. Tyagi, a 1984 batch IAS officer, was appointed as SEBI Chairperson in 2017.

Road Transport and Highways Ministry notified ‘Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme’. It shall come into force from April 1, 2022.
As per the scheme, the compensation to the kin of hit-and-run victims will be increased to Rs 2 lakh in case of death from April 1 (from 25000). The compensation to a person sustaining grievous injuries in a hit-and-run case will increase to Rs 50,000 from Rs 12,500.
