A team of scientists has discovered a new species of bamboo-dwelling bat from a bamboo forest in Meghalaya.
It was named as ‘Glischropus Meghalaya use after the state of Meghalaya, which is celebrating its 50 years of statehood. With this discovery, the total number of bat species from India stands at 131 species with Meghalaya registering the highest bat diversity with 67 species.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai has become India’s first airport to launch a one-of-its-kind Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) & Solar PV hybrid (Solar Mill) to explore the possibility of utilization of wind energy at the airport.

The meeting aims to deliberate on security challenges, including threats of terrorism. In a major milestone, the Indian Railways has flagged off India’s first privately-run train under the scheme ‘Bharat Gaurav’. According to reports, nearly 11, 000 passengers boarded the train from Coimbatore to Shirdi.

India successfully test-fired its indigenously developed, nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile from a test range off the Odisha coast.
The missile was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation of India. It has a range of around 250 km and can carry a one-tonne payload. The test comes around 10 days after India tested its Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Agni-IV, which can travel as far as 4,000 km.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced the launch of a special three-year skill-based bachelor’s degree programme for ‘Agniveers’.
The degree programme offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will be recognised both in India and abroad for employment and education. Agniveers are the defence personnel to be recruited under the newly launched ‘Agnipath’ scheme.

It will make way for providing 5G services to the public and enterprises. 5G services are said to be about 10 times faster than 4G. The Cabinet also decided to enable the development of ‘Private Captive Networks’ to promote innovation in industry 4.0 applications.
