The G20 Finance and Central Bank Deputies (FCBD) meeting is jointly hosted by the Finance Ministry and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The meeting will mark the start of discussions on the Finance Track agenda under the Indian G20 presidency. The Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting will be held in Bengaluru during February 23-25 2023.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared a seed farm, located in Aluva, as the first carbon-neutral farm in the country. The total amount of carbon emission from the farm, located at Thuruthu in Aluva, in the last year was 43 tons but its overall procurement was 213 tons. Compared to the emission rate, as many as 170 tons of more carbon have been procured at the farm, which helped it to be declared as the first carbon-neutral seed farm in the country.

During the event, India’s ceremonial message by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was conveyed by Sushri Shobha Karandlaje. Sushri Shobha Karandlaje conveyed PM Modi’s compliments to the United Nations for declaring the Year 2023 as the International Year of Millets. PM, through his message, thanked the global community for supporting India’s proposal to mark the International Year of Millets (IYM).

The World Bank recently released a report titled ‘Climate Investment Opportunities in India’s Cooling Sector’.

At least six children have died of a common bacterial infection, Strep A, in the United Kingdom. When the bacteria enter the bloodstream, the infection can get severe and it is called invasive Group A Strep (iGAS). The symptoms of Strep A include fever, skin rashes and a sore easily treated with antibiotics. As many as 851 cases of Strep A were reported in a week of November, compared to an average of 186 for the same time in preceding years

The World Bank has raised its growth prediction for the Indian economy to 6.9 percent for the fiscal year 2022-23, up from 6.5 percent before. Semeru Volcano has started erupting on Java Island, Indonesia. The eruption has caused huge volcanic ash and over 2,000 residents in East Java province were evacuated. This Automated Teller Machine (ATM) is different. Not cash, but this one dispenses gold coins. Goldsikka with technology support from Hyderabad-based startup, OpenCube Technologies has launched its first Gold ATM at Begumpet and described it as India’s first Gold ATM and the world’s first Real Time Gold ATM. This ATM can dispense gold coins in different denominations ranging from 0.5 gm to 100 grams and according to Sy Taruj, CEO of Goldsikka, customers can use their debit or credit card to buy gold coins of different denominations. The prices are displayed live on the screen making it transparent and clear for the customers and the coins are dispensed in tamper-proof packs certified with 999 purity he said. The company plans to launch three machines in Hyderabad at the airport, old city and proposes to launch them in Karimnagar and Warangal also. Taruj said plans were being drawn to launch 3,000 machines all over India in the coming two years. Telangana Women’s Commission chairperson, Sunitha Lakshma Reddy participated in the launch programme which was also attended by Ambika Burman, Goldsikka Chairperson, P.
