On 21st August 2018, Tripura governor Tathagata Roy has been appointed as Governor of Meghalaya. He replaces Ganga Prasad. Roy was the President of the West Bengal state unit of BJP from 2002 till 2006. Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad has been appointed as Governor of Sikkim. He Succeeds Shriniwas Dadasaheb Patil. Prasad was elected to the Legislative Council of Bihar in 1994 and had been a member for 18 years. On 30 September 2017, Prasad was appointed by President Ram Nath Kovind as the new Governor of Meghalaya. Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki has been appointed as Governor of Tripura, He succeeds Tathagata Roy. Since August 2009 Kaptan was the member of the Parliament of India representing Madhya Pradesh State in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house until May 2014.
