03rd January marks the birth anniversary of Savitri Bai Phule, the first female teacher in modern India. She was born in Naigaon, a tiny hamlet in Maharashtra, on January 3, 1831. Her life is celebrated throughout India as a beacon of women’s rights. In 1840, she married Jyotirao Phule at the age of nine years.
