Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) MLA from Uttarakhand’s Kotdwar assembly, became the first woman speaker of the state assembly. She was unanimously elected unopposed for the post and has become the speaker of the fifth Uttarakhand legislative assembly.
